For the burger
2 brioche buns
400 g ground beef
4 slices of cheddar
1 tomato
1 red onion
2 portions of gherkins
a few leaves of Batavia lettuce
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
4 teaspoons butter
2 teaspoons salt
pinch of black pepper
oil for frying
Preparation in 7 steps
Start by forming the ground beef into two equal-sized balls and then pressing them into thin burger patties using a burger press or your hands.
Prepare the hob or a gas grill for the highest direct and indirect heat and position the turning plate in the direct heat area.
The tomato should be washed and cut into thin slices. The lettuce leaves must be cleaned and shaken dry. The onion should be peeled and cut into thin rings.
Place the patties on the grill or in the pan, sprinkle with salt and pepper and let the first side cook for about 3-4 minutes until an appealing crust forms.
Flip the patties, place the cheddar on top and let it melt in the indirect heat zone with the lid closed for about 2 minutes until the desired degree of doneness for the patties is reached.
The buns should be cut in half and buttered on both sides. They should then be toasted on a plate with the cut side facing downwards.
Optionally, mayonnaise can be spread on the bottom halves of the buns. These can then be topped with lettuce, patties, pickles, tomatoes and onions. Finally, mayonnaise can be spread again on the top half of the bun and then placed on the burger.
