Sweet Fig Burger

The Sweet Fig Burger is a unique twist on the traditional burger. Most notably, this burger contains a sweet fig paste, which gives it its name. The fig paste is often combined with Brie cheese/Camembert and rocket to create a balanced taste between sweet and savory. Bacon is also sometimes added to add an extra layer of flavor and texture.

The Sweet Fig Burger is often found on gourmet burger menus and is a great option for those looking for a unique and exciting alternative to the classic burger.

For the burger

4 burger buns

1/2 pound ground beef, 80/20

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

2 teaspoons black pepper

1 small red onion

6 ounces Brie cheese (Géramont)

4 tablespoons fig spread

Oil for frying

Preparation in 6 steps

Start by forming the ground beef into even 170g patties and then chill them.

Prepare the grill or pan by heating to medium heat. Sprinkle salt and pepper on the burgers for seasoning.

The onions should be fried directly on the grill or in the pan, making sure to turn them occasionally. The frying process is complete when the onions are slightly translucent with dark grill marks.

The patties should be grilled for 4 - 5 minutes or pan-fried for 3 - 4 minutes. After turning, Brie cheese (Géramont) should be placed on top of each patty.

Let the patties fry for another 3 - 4 minutes or until the cheese is melted.

Top the bottom and top half of the bun with fig spread, followed by the burger patty, grilled/fried onions and the top half of the bun.
